My name is Emilien and I will be your guide during this once in a lifetime experience.. I first discovered Iceland in 2010, during a trekking escape and it was love at first sight for this island of unparalleled beauty . After 5 other escapes to this photographer's paradise, I am now sharing these incredible opportunities to discover waterfalls, multicolored volcanoes, black sand beaches and other geological wonders. I assure you , a vast variety of sceneries will be scene through your lense.
This trip is for amateur and experienced photographers alike. You will be in a small group (9 people maximum) of lovers of wild landscapes, who also wish to discover the main beauties of the island, while having the freedom to stop when they wish. The limited number of people in the group allows us to be flexible during our different stops. In your free time, you will be able to exchange various advices and photographic experiences with the fellow budding photographers.
During our intrepid journey, we will be spent exploring the Golden Circle in the magnificent Thingvellier National Park area. Then, thanks to our 4X4 vehicles, we will be able to move away from the classic tourist circuits and to drive through the Highlands; crossing rivers and bathing in natural hot springs. The trip will continue with the exploration of the incredible riches of the south coast of the country, which is an essential highlight, that will make you top list of memorable experiences.
The trip is relaxed and will be taken in our own pace. The photo sessions are our priority, so we will take the time at each location so that everyone has the chance to find "the perfect spot of their choice". As lighting is most sensational at dusk and dawn, we will utilise these moments to ensure we capture all the beauty on offer. This involves starting the day early in the morning and sometimes finishing a little late. Lunch and dinner are not guaranteed at a fixed time, however no one will go hungry with delicious food on offer in Iceland. The days are loaded with magical moments. We travel mainly by car, however, some activities require walking for 1 or 2 hours in often difficult terrain; an "acceptable" physical condition is therefore required, even if you do not need to be an elite athlete.
Our journey will begin September 15, 2019 in our hotel in Reykjavík, late afternoon. Nothing very adventurous for today, we will simply take our rooms and eat together. This will allow us to get to know each other, discuss everyone's expectations and wishes, and start dreaming of the coming week.
Monday, after taking possession of our 4x4s, we depart at 8am for the Þingvellir National Park, an important place of the Icelandic culture. In particular, we can stop at the Öxarárfoss, a famous waterfall. We will continue our way to Bruarfoss (a picturesque waterfall), while stopping along the way to photograph the unique old houses typical of the island. We will end this first day with two famous wonders of the country: Gulfoss and Geysir. Our Guesthouse will be waiting for us nearby, with a naturally heated outdoor spa.
Tuesday, the serious things will begin, since we will leave the tourist roads to place us in the magnificent highlands, the desert plateaus of the center of the island. The roads are only passable for 4 wheel drives (they are also prohibited to other vehicles). We will arrive in the mountainous region of Kerlingarfjöll. The Kerlingarfjöll mountains are famous for their many hiking possibilities, especially those leading to the hot springs located in the heart of the massif, in the Hveradalir, in the middle of the rhyolite, the red-orange rock whose volcano is essentially constituted. These events are visible signs of the volcanic activity of the massif which is on the Southwest branch of the Mid-Atlantic ridge crossing Iceland in two. Everyone can do the excursion of their choice. If we have time, we will continue north to Hveravellir, one of the largest spa areas on the island. Possibility to swim on site! We will then return to our starting point for a second night in our Guesthouse.
On Wednesday, we will start our day with the outstanding Háifoss waterfall, located near the impressive Hekla volcano. The Fossá River, a tributary of the Þjórsá River, falls 122 meters high, making it the second highest waterfall in Iceland. We will then go to one of the jewels of the island: Landmannalaugar.
On Thursday the 19th, it will be time to head to the south-east of the country through the striking desert stretches. It is only in the evening, having admired lakes, waterfalls and canyons, that we will find the main road once more.
The following day, Friday, we will have the chance to visit Skaftafell National Park, its famous waterfall through the rugged basalt columns, as well as the surrounding glaciers. Would a ride aboard a zodiac spinning through the icebergs please you? I hope so, because that's what we will do in the region of the famous and remarkable Jokulsarlon. We will end this long day at the foot of the mythical Vestrahorn and its so recognizable shape.
Saturday, before the last day of our journey, but no time to hang out: We will go to the famous Diamond Beach to capture the morning light reflected on the pieces of ice (if we are lucky, we will see the seals not away from the beach), Vik direction and its wonders for the second part of the day (Black Sand Beach and Dyrholaey lighthouse in particular).
Sunday, September 22, it will be time to head to the capital, without forgetting to visit the most mythical places of the south coast, such as Skogafoss and Seljalandsgoss. A last dinner together and it's time to go to bed in our hotel rooms, your head filled with incredible images and marvelous memories.
The trip will end on Monday morning with the delivery of the rooms and the "farewell".

Emilien was an excellent guide throughout the trip, trying to find other places to see when those planned were inaccessible, or he was able to take us to see much less known places that were not not less spectacular, quite the contrary. He was able to guide us in Iceland as a true professional.

An excellent guide who has amazed us throughout the stay. It's hard to say which is the best part because Iceland is indescribably beautiful! It takes full eyes all along ... But, I still had a great moment of emotion when we went around in zodiac. Navigating between glacier and icebergs, was for me a moment of great emotion and magic.
